GICLEE REPRODUCTIONS
Giclee (pronounced "Zhee-clay") is a French word meaning "a spraying of ink". Giclee's have the highest
apparant resolution available today. These prints capture every nuance of an original. A Giclee print emerges
with the feel of watercolor or the look of the texture of a pastel or oil painting.
Pastels and watercolors reproduced on high quality acid free watercolor paper. Oil paintings are usually
reproduced on canvas and stretched over stretcher bars. Each award winner will be issued in a limited addition

LITHOGRAPHIC REPRODUCTIONS
These prints were made using a process called “silkscreen mixed media .” Color separations were first
made from the artist’s original watercolors. Then a chromist mixed inks, to match all the varied color
mixtures used in each watercolor. A printmaker painted the scene on a plate, using one color per plate.
He made 27 plates for the “Tulips with Paisley” print, and 32 plates for the “Oriental Garden” piece.
Finally, each plate was printed on 100% rag, acid-free paper, one plate at a time. As the plates were
placed
on top of one another, the colors mixed and matched her original painting perfectly. It was a time
consuming process, taking both artists about six weeks of work. Linda Sheppard oversaw much of the
process, checking the runs to be sure they were accurate. There were 250 prints made of each
watercolor and 25 Artist Proofs.
Each print is signed and numbered by the artist and accompanied by a Certificate of Authentication.
